Binita Gurung: The Energetic Soul Behind Nepal’s WordPress Community

Binita Gurung

I saw Binita Gurung at WordCamp Nepal 2026, but somehow, I never got the chance to have a proper conversation with her. Sometimes, you meet people only briefly, yet their energy and personality still catch your attention. Binita is one of those people.

Binita works as a web designer alongside with her brother Bikash Pun. But she is much more than a web designer. She is also a plant lover, poet, singer, artist, footballer, runner, and cat lover. She enjoys nature, designing, painting, writing, storytelling, and social work. She loves plants and pets, especially cats and dogs, and proudly calls herself a “crazy cat lady!” Her many interests show how much she enjoys exploring life and doing the things she loves.

Her passion goes beyond her work and hobbies. Binita also cares deeply about helping people and making her community a better place. She has been involved with Better Chitwan, a non-profit organization working to improve Chitwan. She became a Core Team Member in November 2019, served as a coordinator in 2024-2025 and now a board member at Better Chitwan. Her journey shows her strong interest in social causes and her desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Binita has also traveled to different parts of Nepal, including Bharatpur, Butwal, Kathmandu, and Pokhara, while building connections and contributing to the WordPress community. Year after year, she has stayed connected with the community and continued to contribute in her own way.

She is a familiar face in WordCamp Nepal for several years, Her #WCNP journey includes attending WordCamp Nepal 2024 in Pokhara, volunteering at WordCamp Nepal 2025 in Kathmandu, and volunteering at WordCamp Nepal 2026 in Butwal.

Her contributions go beyond attending and volunteering, which also includes organizing WordCamps. She served as a Venue Wrangler for WordCamp Bharatpur 2025 and was in the Content Creation Team for WordCamp Kathmandu 2026.

And her journey did not stop in Nepal. She took her community spirit beyond Nepal by volunteering at WordCamp Asia 2026 in Mumbai, India, becoming part of the wider global WordPress community.

What I find interesting about Binita is the energy she brings to so many different parts of her life. From designing websites and creating art to running, writing, caring for pets, supporting social causes, and helping organize WordPress events, she always seems to find something meaningful to do. It is lovely to see someone follow so many interests while also making time for a community she cares about.

Although I have not had the chance to talk with Binita properly yet, I feel happy to see her journey and contributions to the WordPress community. I hope our paths cross again at a future WordPress event, and this time, I get the opportunity to know her better.

Until then, I can only appreciate her journey from a distance. Her creativity, energy, kindness, and commitment to her community are truly inspiring.

People like Binita remind us that being part of WordPress is not just about building websites or attending events. It is also about sharing our passions, helping others, making friends, and creating something meaningful together.

I look forward to seeing her continue to grow and make a difference in Nepal’s WordPress community and beyond.
